There is a LOT on our minds right now - but fashion may not be the most top of mind in 2020. While it may not crack the top ten of big stories of the year, you may be surprised at how much our fashion habits are changing. As you’re reading this, you may be sporting a classic video conference quarantine look, consisting of a business-appropriate top, a pair of sweatpants, and house slippers. You may be dismayed as online clothing items pile up in your cart due to incredulous sales, never to reach check out without an occasion on the horizon for such attire! While inside for most waking hours, you may be taking the opportunity to tidy up your apartment, prompting you to donate the old clothes that have sat in the back of your closet for the last several years. Whatever your quarantine fashion situation is, the way we interact with fashion is changing rapidly, and so too is the industry!
Please join DC Net Impact on Tuesday, October 29th as we welcome Janice Wallace to share her expertise on fashion, including personal styling and sustainability. We’ll explore some of the ways that each of us can live a more sustainable lifestyle, especially those that seek to reduce textile waste, increase the lifespan of items that we already own, and learn to curate looks that will inspire us for many seasons.
Janice is Owner/Creative Director of The Fashion Parade, Curator of Eat. Wear. Nest. and Co-Founder of the DC Sustainable Fashion Collective.
