Join DC Net Impact and Patagonia Georgetown for a charity event as we explore the circular clothing economy!
About this Event
In 2015, over 10 million tons of textiles were sent to landfills in the United States, with only about 15% of textiles being recycled. In a changing world where waste management is an integral part of sustainable development, businesses are rising to the challenge to tackle clothing waste and create a circular economy for clothing reuse.
Join DC Net Impact and Patagonia Georgetown for an evening at the Patagonia Georgetown store, as we explore the ways that the circular clothing economy benefits business, society, and the environment. Learn about Patagonia's industry-leading Worn Wear program and their mission of environmental and social responsibility. Hear from circular economy experts on the challenges and opportunities in clothing sustainability while enjoying food and beverages from local DC businesses.
One of our featured circular economy speakers, Kaveri Marathe, is the Founder & CEO of Texiles, a consultancy focused on helping businesses reduce, reuse, and recycle their textile waste. Kaveri is also a founding member of the DC Sustainable Fashion Collective.
This is a ticketed event and a suggested donation of $10 will be donated to the American Sustainable Business Institute, whose mission is to promote sustainable business awareness, impact, and viability throughout the Chesapeake region.
