2020 Food Solutions Challenge

  • Union Kitchen: Food Accelerator 1369 New York Avenue Northeast Washington, DC, 20002 United States (map)

Each year, Net Impact challenges members to consider the global food system and to find solutions to pressing issues in food and agriculture through their annual Food Solutions Challenge case competition. This year’s challenge asks: How might we better enable female smallholder farmers to have access to the resources, agricultural know-how, and markets that will improve their livelihoods?

DC Net Impact has partnered with DC-based food business accelerator Union Kitchen to host a workshop focused on the solutions to these important questions. Union Kitchen CEO and Founder, Cullen Gilchrist and Executive Vice President, Andrew Varnum will kick off the workshop by speaking about Union Kitchen’s work to promote gender equity in domestic food supply chains. At this event, you will learn, ideate, and pitch solutions, facilitated by experts from Union Kitchen and the DC Net Impact Board. We will then synthesize our recommendations and submit a proposal to Net Impact for consideration in the 2020 Food Solutions Challenge case competition.

Space is limited, so please register early if you are interested! We seek to host a group of diverse perspectives to solicit unique solutions and invite any DC professional or student to participate regardless of professional background. Should the submitted proposal be selected as a finalist by Net Impact, participants will be invited to participate in the Virtual Net Impact Accelerator that accompanies the challenge.

We hope to see you there for the chance to learn, ideate, pitch and win the 2020 Food Solutions Challenge!

Tickets are $15 for professionals and $10 for students - available for purchase via Eventbrite.
