Having doubts about the process or impact of recycling? Interested to learn more about what you can do as an individual? Join us on Monday, May 4th to learn more about the current state of recycling!
We will hear from Beth Porter, Climate Campaigns Director at Green America and author of Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine: Sorting Out the Recycling System. Beth educates the public on waste and other climate issues and urges companies and policymakers to develop more sustainable practices through national campaigns.
Our conversation will explore what you can do as an individual, how we can advocate for better policies as a community, and even how recycling is affected by COVID-19. We will hear from Beth about the benefits of a functional recycling process and the systemic problems that hinder the success of recycling, such as contamination and market fluctuations. The conversation will also address solutions to the systemic problems, who the actors should be (nonprofits, local governments, individual consumers, etc.), and what each person can do to contribute to a functioning and beneficial recycling waste stream.
The webinar will be no cost to attendees, with a suggested donation of $10 for those who are willing and able to give during this time. DC Net Impact will send donation proceeds to the local Capital Area Food Bank to support in their efforts to address hunger in the DC region.
Event will be hosted via a videoconference service, not through Eventbrite. Sign on details will be provided directly to registered participants, so register today via Evenbrite.
